Ju-Yeon Kim was born in South Korea and studied for her BFA in Seoul. Since moving to the US and finishing her art education here, she has been making works that represent a new cross-cultural identity that embraces complexity and multiple cultural sources. Ju-Yeon Kim's works reflect her process of forming an inclusive identity that embraces East and West and the multiple visual languages known to both cultures. Kim's compositions embrace traditions of painting, drawing, and decoration from Asian and Western sources, but enlivened with a new energy from her multiple layers of materials and cultural references.
